As a remedy, fuel cells can be used as an alternative for these conventional modes of transforming alternative fuel. Fuel cells are similar to batteries that they are composed of an electrolyte and two electrodes. These electrolyte and electrodes generate an electric current through the combination of hydrogen and oxygen ions. Fuel cells do not use combustion in transforming chemical fuel to energy. Thus it can avoid the problems associated with combustion such as emission of harmful substances.
Due to the non-use of combustion, the use of fuel cells lead to an extremely clean car operation and reduced, almost zero, emissions. It is more efficient than conventional engines because it has low fuel requirements and thus uses fewer resources. It is almost very silent and requires little in maintenance. But despite the fact that it is more efficient, why is it that more people still use combustion engines than fuel cell car?
Fuel cells were actually discovered before the internal combustion. But between the tow, the combustion engine gained more popularity due partly to Ford’s efforts to mass- produced combustion engine cars. As a result, the long years of use have allowed the combustion cars to get the leverage it needs to make it difficult for fuel cells to picture in the competition.
Due to the longer years of having combustion engines, fuel and repair service stations usually offer services that are adequate for a combustion engine. There are not too many facilities that can answer to the needs of a fuel cell vehicle. And the cost of building facilities for fuel cell vehicle can be very expensive. Because the technology is new, only few people use fuel cell vehicles. Thus, the service stations have no incentive to spend large amounts of money to build facilities for fuel cell vehicles. The little demand for such facilities is not sufficient to help the service providers to get back what they will spend for the development of the facilities. This in effect will encourage lesser people to use fuel cell cars.
At present, people still embrace the concept of conventional cars that run of fuel and specified by a level indicator. For more information about liquid level indication, visit http://questtecsolutions.com/liquid-level-indicators.
